Sneak Peek: "Al citrón"

From the Music Together® Maracas Song Collection:

“Al citrón” is a traditional Latin American children’s game song. It’s made up of mostly nonsense words, with only a few real ones embedded into the silliness (i.e., citrón: lemon; fandango: a type of dance).

In Latin America, the song was historically played as a passing game similar to “Hot Potato.” In Music Together classes, families use egg shakers to tap and clap along so they can experience the song’s distinct rhythmic patterns—along with a healthy dose of silliness, of course!

One of our Music Together Teacher Trainers who is from Monterrey, Mexico, remembers playing it as a child. Many years later, her tías and tíos (aunts and uncles) broke into song during an online chat when she shared that it had been added to the Music Together Maracas Collection!
