In the preschool where I teach Music Together, there was a four-year-old boy who seemed to have some sensory issues, and social issues because of that. He was usually somewhat withdrawn and challenging but, when music class started, the way his face lit up was unlike anything I had ever experienced before. Whereas outside of class he didn't seem to give out much emotion or participation, every fiber of his being was pulsating with the joy of making music. It took a couple of months for this to happen, but when it did, what a change. I noticed, the teachers noticed, and his parents noticed. He became a joyful, participating, social student, whereas had he been in a preschool without such a stimulating music curriculum, I'm not sure this would have happened. It truly made my whole year to receive notes from his parents thanking me for bringing out his joy and love of music.
