In the US alone, there will be over 4,000 free concerts in over 50 cities. The annual global celebration of music brings people of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels together to make and enjoy music.<\/p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.makemusicday.org\/\" title=\"Make Music Day 2018\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.musictogether.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/makemusicday_gallery2-2.png\" align=\"center\" alt=\"makemusicday_gallery2\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"   class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1028\" \/><\/a>\n<p>Join in the fun this year! Every kind of musician\u2014from bucket drummers to opera singers\u2014pours onto streets, parks, plazas, porches, rooftops, gardens, and other public spaces to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.makemusicday.org\/\" title=\"Make Music Day 2018\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"desktop-only\" >\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.musictogether.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/MAKEMUSIC_color--300x199.png\" alt=\"MAKEMUSIC_color\" style=\"float:right; padding:0\" width=\"300\" height=\"199.92\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1029\" \/><\/div>\n<p><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Based on France&#8217;s &#8220;F\u00eate de la Musique,&#8221; a national musical holiday inaugurated in 1982, musical events take place in more than 750 cities in 120 countries, including the U.S., Germany, Italy, Greece, Russia, Lebanon, Ivory Coast, Australia, Peru, Brazil, Ecuador, Mexico, Canada, and Japan.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-top:1.0em\">\n<p>Here are a few highlights of the larger events planned for June 21, 2018:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"padding-bottom:0.25em\">\n<li style=\"padding-bottom:1em\">More than 175 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.makemusicday.org\/mass-appeal\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mass Appeal<\/a> events nationwide will bring together musicians of all levels and ages to make music in large, single-instrument groups led by experienced facilitators. Instruments with Mass Appeal events include guitars, harmonicas, accordions, \ufb02utes, percussion, trombones, bassoons, French horns, synthesizers, ukuleles, djembes, harps, voices, dulcimers, and more. Free guitar, harmonica, ukuleles, drum and other instrumental lessons are also being o\ufb00ered.<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom:1em\">In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.makemusicny.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">New York City<\/a>, there will be a citywide celebration of music, with free, outdoor performances in public parks, sidewalks, community centers, and more. Some highlights include \u201cThe Well-Tempered Clavier at the 9\/11 Memorial Plaza,\u201d which will showcase professional and student pianists performing preludes from J.S. Bach, and Improv Everywhere, which will host a new participatory audio adventure, \u201cThe MP3 Experiment Number Fifteen,\u201d at the Brooklyn Bridge.<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom:1em\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.makemusicday.org\/national-projects\/sousapalooza\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sousapaloozas<\/a> in Chicago, Cleveland, Iowa City, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Salem, and Wichita will bring together hundreds of brass and wind music musicians to play the music of John Philip Sousa.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.makemusicday.org\/national-projects\/street-studio-cities\/\" target=\"_blank\">Street Studios<\/a> will feature DJs and producers bringing gear and engaging passersby in the spontaneous, collaborative production of original music on the streets of cities across the US (Chattanooga, TN; Detroit, MI; Los Angeles, CA; Montclair, NJ; Mountain View, CA; Nashville, TN; New York, NY; Reedsburg, WI; Salem, OR; Seattle, WA; Somerville, NJ; Stamford, CT), and the world (Bangalore, Budapest, Lagos, Moscow, Quer\u00e9taro).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.makemusicday.org\/\" title=\"Make Music Day 2018\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile-only\" align=\"center\" >\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.musictogether.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/MAKEMUSIC_color_600w.png\" style=\"max-width: 400px\" alt=\"MAKEMUSIC_color\" width=\"auto\" height=\"auto\" \/><\/div>\n<p><\/a><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-top:1.0em\">\n<p>Music Together centers across the world are celebrating Make Music Day, too! Here are a few highlights.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"padding-bottom:0.25em\">\n<li style=\"padding-bottom:1em\">\n\t\t<a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsfromtheheart.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Arts from the Heart<\/a>, in Tolland, Connecticut, will host a Sing-along Potluck at the park.\n\t\t<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom:1em\">\n\t\t<a href=\"http:\/\/ensemblemusic.yourvirtuoso.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ensemble Music<\/a>, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, will lead a family music class outside.\n\t\t<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom:1em\">\n\t\t<a href=\"http:\/\/mtbeaverton.yourvirtuoso.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Music Together Beaverton<\/a>, in Beaverton, Oregon, is hosting a gathering for songs and instrument play at the playground.\n\t\t<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom:1em\">\n\t\t<a href=\"http:\/\/mtbeaverton.yourvirtuoso.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Music Together Beaverton<\/a>, in Beaverton, Oregon, is hosting a gathering for songs and instrument play at the playground.\n\t\t<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom:1em\">\n\t\t<a href=\"http:\/\/www.songbirdsmusic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Songbirds Music<\/a>, in San Diego, California, will hold a musical morning sing-along.\n\t\t<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom:1em\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tinymusicmakers.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tiny Music Makers<\/a>, in Toulouse, France, is organizing a free family jam and sing-along, storytime, and arts and crafts.\n\t\t<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom:1em\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.happybeat758.com\/home\" target=\"_blank\">We Happy Beat<\/a>, in Nagoya, Japan, will run a free drum circle.
