I am a Musikgarten teacher. While driving to teach my music class this morning, I found myself overcome emotionally while listening to more sad news about the tragedy in Connecticut last weekend. I decided to go home and grab my guitar so I could sing this song with my toddlers & preschoolers. They accompanied me with finger cymbals. Though they are too young to be affected by the tragedy, singing the song with them and their parents brought peace to my heart, and I hope brought another measure of peace to the world. The Kindergarten class at our school raised $236 for U NICEF. Their teacher delivered the money raised by the class with a photo of the class this last Thanksgiving to New York at the United Nations. World Communion Sunday is celebrated the every year, the first Sunday in October. It is one of the most special of the "s pecial" Sundays, celebrated by many denominations world wide. It takes a new meaning in this time of war, when people of earth are divided by fear. My goal is to teach this song to my children/youth choir at Wesley Church and perform it in service on this venerable day.
